  1. I’m bothered by the warning that excessive drinking of lemongrass tea can cause renal failure. How much is excessive? How can something that cleanses harm?

    • Hello,
Lemongrass contains citral as the main component although it is good for health but should not be consumed in excess causes skin irritation. High doses may cause nephrotoxicity studies done on the animal model (http://www.phytojournal.com/vol3Issue1/Issue_may_2014/32.1.pdf). It will be best if you drink lemongrass tea twice or thrice in a week. You can try other caffeine free tea like fruit infusion tea or tea made from flower petals or mushroom tea they are also equally refreshing. Excess is when you are taking more than one cup daily in the normal health condition. herbal extracts have their own benefits and side effects because of the compounds present in them known as secondary metabolites.
