What is Sinus?

Sinuses are hollow air spaces around the nose. These are mainly located on the forehead known as the Frontal Sinus, cheekbones called Maxillary sinus, and behind the nose bridge that is the Sphenoid sinus. The buildup of pressure in these open areas often leads to headaches and infection or inflammation can cause mucus that blocks the passage of the air within the nose. Sinus can be treated with ayurveda yoga.

Sinusitis is a medical condition due to inflamed sinuses, which is again categorized as acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis. As per Ayurveda main reasons for Sinusitis are as follows

a) Eating things which are cold

b) Drinking too much water even when you are not thirsty

c) Disturbed Udana prana

Udana prana is mainly connected with the upper part of the body that is the throat, face, and head region. These are mainly responsible for all the sensory activities and functions of the organs and brain.

d) Disturbed Apana prana

Apana prana is mainly responsible for the elimination and is situated below the navel. The main organs controlled by this are the small and large intestine, reproductive organs, stomach, liver, pancreas, and spleen.

e) Sleeping during the daytime and staying awake during the nighttime

f) Using pillow

g) Excessive masturbation

How to treat bad sinus with Ayurveda and yoga?

a) Homemade recipe for sinus relief

Use 10-12 black pepper cones, add 1 tbsp ghee(clarified butter) and add sugar as per taste consume this paste every morning and after consumption one should not drink water for an hour.

b) Jal Neti and Sutra Neti

c) Taking Steam

d) Consuming lukewarm water

e) Consumption of basil and clove tea will help in reducing blockage from the nose

b) Yoga Routine

1. Jal Neti and Sutra Neti
2. Breathing exercises Vastrika and Anulom Vilom should work but one should not have high BP.
    • Vastrika – 5 steps inhale and exhale in one single take
    • Anulom Vilom for 5 minutes
